Tired…

Koruel | May 17, 2008

Recently I’m losing my hype for blogging. I don’t know what happened but I don’t feel like blogging that much anymore. I guess blogging just bores me now.

Anyway, my point for this post is to inform you guys that I don’t think that Tesko fits the description of having up-to-date information’s about softwares and other computer related stuffs. In short I’ll be changing the part of what my blog will cover. Probably this website will just be a site (or as what I like to call the “Lab”) for my development sandbox. Meaning a place where I will release and give out information’s on projects that I want to experiment/develop on. I’m still studying and I’m not quite fit to be called a professional programmer so it might take some time before I experiment on a new project.

Till next time~

RPC 2008 Starts Today

Koruel | May 14, 2008

If you’re reading this then I guess you’re a Filipino who plays Philippine Ragnarok Online. As we all know, today starts the drum roll for entering the fog of war (aka RPC Season). We know that there are many prices at stake and most of us already know the mechanics. Since it would seem that the mechanics are already finalized then I guess that now is the perfect time for me to give my reaction, insights and predictions for this RPC 2008. By the way, the RPC Champion will be the representative for our country this RWC 2008 which will be held in Philippines World Trade Center.

House of Hackers

Koruel | May 13, 2008

I’ve recently read a news on PC World that hacker’s created a social network called the House of Hackers run by the GNUCITIZEN where they could discuss and exchange ideas topics that of course concerns hacking and various security subjects

The site’s purpose is to engage and discuss with business security researchers so that they can enhance the security of their company and they will not be promoting any criminal activities as they say in their website. At the moment, with my last check, their website contains 2172 members ALREADY so I’m guessing that this network is very active though I can’t relate that much since I’m not a hacker.

Security researches should try and check this site out very often and see if they can develop some anti-hack applications.

Vista More Secure than XP?

Koruel | May 11, 2008

PC Tools, a security company famous for its security software such as Spyware Doctor did a six-month test for 1,000 computers running Vista and XP to find out which OS got more infected by malicious software. Michael Greene, the firm’s vice president of product strategy, added that a threat is actually a malicious code that has penetrated the computer.

Here are the results:

  • Vista: 639 unique threats
  • XP: 1,021 unique threats

Just like what PC Tools said, this makes Vista 37% more secure than XP, which is a little surprise to me. Why? Because I believe that XP is much more secure than Vista and at the same time I know for sure that Vista has had some good progress with their security and I think within a small amount of time (and I’m not talking within 1 day or 1 month) Vista is surely to be more secure than XP. Though I can’t help but wonder what the results would be if Mac also undergone this test.

Koruel | May 7, 2008

I found a topic on Computerworld subject “Malware vs. Anti-malware, 20 years into the fray.” The post is long but you might want to check it out since it’s very informative. Lastly, the post was made as an opinion by Robert Morris Jr.
